Tests show elevated degrees of pesticide in organic product

Most organic product tests haphazardly tried by the Thai Pesticide Ready Organization (Thai-Container) contained perilous buildups that surpassed the wellbeing standard, especially jujubes and oranges.

Thai-Container facilitator Prokchol Ousap said on Friday that the organization gathered 85 examples of apples, mythical beast natural product, guava, jujubes and oranges, both imported and locally developed, from grocery stores and new business sectors across 12 regions, including Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Rayong from Nov 27 to Dec 11.

She said the organic products went through multi-buildup testing for 419 synthetic substances at BVAQ Research center in Thailand. The examination uncovered pesticide deposits surpassing the wellbeing standard in all organic product types tried, she said.

Furthermore, locally developed natural products were found to contain chlorpyrifos, a perilous rural compound that Thailand restricted as a Sort 4 harmful substance, forbidding its creation, import, commodity and ownership since June 1, 2020, she said.

The discoveries showed that every one of the 15 jujube tests had perilous deposits that surpassed the wellbeing standard, with six examples containing chlorpyrifos at significant levels.

For the oranges, three out of the 17 examples included deposits inside safe cutoff points, while 14 surpassed the wellbeing standard.

Outstandingly, chlorpyrifos was distinguished in four examples, including two imported mandarins from China and two locally developed from Phichit and Chiang Rai.

For apples, the outcomes found that main four examples had no pesticide deposits while 13 had buildups yet just a single surpassed the standard qualities. For guava, just a single example was sans buildup, while six were inside safe cutoff points, and 10 had deposits that surpassed the norm.

The mythical beast natural product test showed that two examples didn't have compound buildup while 15 examples had harmful deposits, of which nine had deposits surpassing the standard worth, including one example that was set apart as a natural item with a PGS (Participatory Assurance Framework) endorsement.

Thai-Skillet will advance the outcomes to the pertinent government specialists to inspect the natural accreditation standard, Ms Prokchol said.
