Sergeant Kings takes the Cooperative to file a complaint with the Crime Suppression Division after being tricked into saving gold and losing more than 80 million baht.
On October 28, 2024, at the Central Investigation Bureau’s complaint center on Phahon Yothin Road, Chatuchak, Bangkok, Sergeant Kings Tangtim Saphan Mai, a former S.O., brought 50 victims to file a complaint after being tricked into saving gold by a Facebook page. The latest report shows that there are over 600 victims with total damages of over 80 million baht.
One of the victims said that in 2023, she started saving gold with a Facebook page called “Khaimook Om Thong, Thong Tae Yaowarat” in Chonburi Province. The page created credibility by claiming that it had a gold shop in Suphan Buri Province and had over a hundred thousand followers. After checking the page’s history, there were no previous fraud cases, so she decided to invest in saving gold with this page. In early September, she saved one salung of gold and received real gold. She decided to continue saving gold until her total gold was around 5 baht. However, on October 10, the page was closed.
Another victim said that she started saving gold with a famous page for 5 years. At first, when she started saving gold, she received real gold from the shop, which was sent by post. But later, when the gold savings increased, the shop contacted her to sell it for auction instead, which she actually received the money according to the amount of gold she saved. When she saw that she made a profit from saving gold, she borrowed 400,000 baht from a friend to continue saving gold. Then, her parents, mother, and friends were interested in investing in gold savings as well. The total amount was more than 103 baht or about 4 million baht. The victim said that now her friend who invested with her has filed a lawsuit because her friend used the method of transferring money to her to deposit gold savings.Another victim said that her gold savings are now at 28 baht or around 1,100,000 baht. She said that she had previously auctioned 3 baht worth of gold with the page, which had sent her gold via post. In August, her gold savings started to increase, so the store suggested that she auction and consign it to the store and transfer the money to her instead, which never had any problems. Then in September, she went to receive the gold at the store in Suphan Buri Province, which made her even more confident that the page had a real store. She decided to use all the funds she earned from work to save gold, but she was scammed. Up until now, the police have not been able to arrest the owner of the page. Today, she decided to file a complaint with the Crime Suppression Division.
