What happened! Thieves broke into a temple, broke into the safe, and stole 6.5 million baht. The abbot said the CCTV cameras were broken. He asked everyone to keep quiet and not let the news out.
From the case of the page E-So Khi Khao: E-So posted a picture with a message stating that there was a thief who broke into a safe at a temple in Surin Province and stole cash from the safe totaling more than 6.5 million. The abbot and the temple committee claimed that the CCTV was broken and also ordered everyone to help cover up the news and not tell anyone about this because they did not want it to become a big deal, as previously reported.
Later, an investigation found that it was a temple in Chok Na Sam Subdistrict, Prasat District, Surin Province. Therefore, an inspection was conducted to find the scene of the incident, which was the abbot's old kuti. Inside the kuti, there were CCTV cameras installed in every corner, but he claimed that they were not working. In addition, the abbot tried to avoid the cameras that the reporters were taking pictures of, saying, "Don't take pictures, layperson. I want to be quiet. I don't want to be in the news." The abbot asked for alms and not to be in the news. However, the abbot agreed to tell us that the kuti was the old kuti that the abbot resided in. When he got a new kuti, the abbot moved to the new kuti instead of staying there. He had closed the old kuti for about 3 years. The safe was in the bedroom. When the abbot heard the news from the temple's junior monks, he felt sorry. As for the CCTV cameras, they were broken, so he unplugged them. As for the money in the safe, about 6.5 million baht, it really was gone. The culprit entered through the window of the monk's quarters. The abbot has already reported the incident to the police. As for whether the culprit is someone in the temple, the abbot refused to answer. He only said that the police have already sent fingerprints of everyone in the temple to Region 3.Pol. Lt. Col. Thanatti Nanap, Deputy Chief of Investigation, Chok Na Sam Police Station, Prasat District, Surin Province, inspected and recorded images as evidence. The safe was made of steel and cement, approximately 2 meters high and heavy. A hole was found in the middle of the safe, which was smashed and damaged. Police officers from the Forensic Science Division were called to examine it for DNA. Police officers collected DNA from people in the temple and those close to them and sent it to Region 3 to find fingerprints in order to find the culprit and prosecute them.
